The prose is simple and honest, but manages to convey all the feelings of hurt, guilt and isolation that plague these stories about ordinary life.Amazing short stories and characters that I'll never forget. Last story espically moving. Academy Street is her first novel. Mary Costello's another great irish short story writer, apparently. Lovely language in these lyrical stories describing love, hurt, regret, and more--the stuff of life.
