Barry Douglas Carrickfergus Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition I will be announcing details very soon of a masterclass facility and a new app for piano students and music … In September 2007 an honorary DMus was conferred on Barry by the National University of Ireland at Maynooth, and in May 2009 he received an honorary Doctorate of Music from the Uinversity of Wyoming in the US. As Artistic Director of Camerata Ireland and the Clandeboye Festival, he continues to celebrate his Irish heritage whilst also maintaining a busy international touring schedule. Recorded in 1993 but not released until now (mid-2008), these are exceptional performances superbly engineered by Tony Faulkner with a clarity and tangibility that fully captures the positive chemistry between Barry Douglas and the late Evgeny Svetlanov (who died in 2002).
He's marking that anniversary by performing Tchaikovsky's piano concertos around the globe, and he's planning on recording all of the composer's solo piano works over the next couple of years.
